Social Media Summer School FAQ

We’ll post any frequently asked questions about our Summer School project here:

What is the Want&Blog Social Media Summer School?
7 days of social media stories, insights, opinions & case studies from around the world, from the 19th - 25th July 2010. Leading up to it we’re asking people to submit posts to us that will then go live on our site throughout that week.

Is there a real world Summer School taking place?
Sadly not, perhaps we should have chosen a different name. The project is just about sharing ideas online so you can attend from the comfort of your own home, or RSS reader!

When I submit to your blog for this collaborative effort, do I still retain the rights to my intellectual property for publishing elsewhere, or am I bound to submitting to the wantandblog website exclusively?
You’re more than welcome to publish it wherever else you like - we’re all about encouraging people to share and contribute, definitely not about locking down content. In line with Tumblr’s terms when you submit you are saying that you are willing for us to distribute your content but you can share it elsewhere too.

Can I submit more than one post?
Yes, you can submit as many posts as you like, however we cannot guarantee we’ll publish everything we receive!

When is the deadline for submissions? When will my post go live?
We ask that all posts be made by Friday 17th July. We’ll then be posting them throughout the week of the 19th-25th July. Each day will have a different theme (see here) and if we publish your post it will be on the most suitable day.

Will you take credit for my post?
We wont pretend that we wrote any of the posts (except the ones we actually do!) so please make it clear how you’d like to be referenced and whether you’d like a link to your website, Twitter etc.

How do I actually take part?
Tumblr users can go to our submit page and enter a post straight from there. Others can email us their posts/photos/links etc. to jerry@wantandblog.co.uk - any questions, just ask.
